Acupuncture

Acupuncture can be used as a stand alone for greater health and wellbeing as it promotes the body’s own natural energy to work more efficiently. Along with providing acupuncture for general practice, treatments may include cupping, tu-ina massage, auricular therapy & dietary counseling.

In countries such as Japan and China, which make up about a fifth of the world's population, acupuncture has been established as a primary form of health care for thousands of years, where the acupuncturist's role was comparable to that of the physician.

Acupuncture has been proven effective for treating numerous health problems and is recommended by WHO (World Health Organization) and NIH (National Institute of Heath) for disorders such as:

Musculoskeletal & Neurological Disorders:

neck & back pain, headaches, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, tendinitis, sciatica, arthritis, post-operative pain & TMJ

Digestive & Urinary Disorders:

diarrhea, constipation, IBS, acid reflux, urinary tract infections

Respiratory Disorders:

common cold, sinusitis, asthma

Gynecological Disorders:

reproductive disorders, PMS, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, pre-natal conditions

Psycho-Emotional / Behavioral Disorders:

stress management, insomnia, PTSD, addictions

Tui-Na Massage

Known as the grandfather of massage, Tui-Na was developed in China over 5000 years ago. This bodywork encompasses reflexology, acupressure and massage. Tui-Na works on the energy channels and points on the body using the same principles as acupuncture except with the use of hands and fingers instead of needles. This amazing massage session invigorates blood, increases circulation, relieves pain, reduces stress and eases tense, tight muscles.

Cupping

Cupping involves the application of glass cups, which adhere to the body by the use of heat. You do not feel the heat, but you will feel the cup on the skin. The cups are used over certain acupuncture points and/or over areas of pain. The idea is that stagnation by lack of circulation in the muscles and body tissues will lead to pain and other illnesses. Cupping improves the circulation in these areas. The pain is alleviated and underlying health issues are often helped.

Moxibustion

Needles are heated by burning a piece of a rolled herb known as mugwort on the needle handle or by holding a cigar shaped piece of ‘smokeless’ moxa near the handles of the needles. This technique is known as moxibustion or ‘moxa’. In traditional acupuncture there are indications for the use of moxa when there is a ‘cold syndrome’ or for moving energy.

Auricular Therapy (Ear Acupuncture)

The ear is a ‘micro system’, meaning that there is a point on the ear that represents every part of the body. Aliments of the entire body are assumed to be treatable by stimulation of the surface of the ear exclusively. Auricular acupuncture is used to treat a whole host of conditions and is also the primary mode of treatment for the NADA acupuncture detoxification protocol used in detox centres around the world.
